ABOUT US
Austin Typewriter, Ink. is a group of Texas writers, artists, and collectors who love vintage writing machines. Organized in the Winter of 2017 by Everett Henderson, David Torres, and The Shy Typospherian, Austin Typewriter, Ink. originally started as a casual coffeehouse meetup between friends. Then in May of 2018, we were selected to participate in the annual Austin Maker Faire and our loveable band of misfits decided it was time to make something bigger.
Our launch at the Faire was a smashing success and Austin Typewriter, Ink. quickly became a full-blown sensation! Vintage writing machine enthusiasts who attended the event—as well as some from across the globe—began contacting us, eager to share in the fun. Henderson, Torres, and The Shy quickly got to work and within a few short weeks, Austin Typewriter, Ink. had created a charitable organization, a clear mission, and a full-service website.
Our goal will always be to encourage all minds to discover and reimagine the creative possibilities of the typewriter. Whether it be in art, writing, engineering, or even music(!), the typewriter has a place in our history and, with our help, in our future as well.
